Psycho - Movie Review

Ram Gopal Varma, who is famous for taking up controversial story lines, has come up with another interesting subject this time. His usual genres horror, factions and mafia are set aside this time for a Psycho movie. The film's story and screenplay is done by Ram Gopal Varma and is directed by Kishore Bhargav. The lead actors are Nisha Kotari and Raj Shroff.

The story of Psycho is about Meera (Nisha Kothari), a middle class working lady. She is a hard working lady with responsibilities at home. She would have to travel via bus to reach her office. This is where she comes across Nikhil (Raj Shroff). Nikhil starts to approach her everyday during their journey.

His disturbance in the beginning, with asking her to be friends with him, to talk to him and to come out with him for movies, becomes a torture for Meera as he starts to over do it. With this, Meera seeks help from her colleague Shekhar. Shekhar, who is a friend of city commissioner of police, seeks his assistance to deal with the issue.

This results in Nikhil turning evil in return. And then the actual side of Nikhil is revealed. What happens to Meera? Who is Nikhil? What is his story? Will Meera escape from him? Forms the rest of the story.

Performance: Nisha Kotari is good at her work. She played the simple girl who gets stuck in difficult situation perfectly. Raj Shroff is too good. He has performed brilliantly as the psycho. In fact, all the characters in the film have done a good job with their actings. Ram Gopal Verma's story is pretty good and the story telling style is uniquely RGV.

The film without the disturbance of songs sets a good pace and keeps the viewer hooked. The background score too is apt for the scenes.

The drawback of the film is the cinematography. RGV has over-done with the camera. In fact, in most of the scenes the camera angle and movements are disturbing to the viewers. Screenplay could have been much better and it is obviously expected from the experienced person like RGV.

The acting which was a plus point of the movie during the climax scene is disappointing. The Psycho character is taken to the extreme and RGV should have kept reins on this.

Verdit: All in all the Psycho title is apt for this movie. You can skip it if you can.
