Anukshanam - Movie Review

After the huge success of Rowdy, the combo of director Ram Gopal Varma and actor-cum-producer Vishnu Manchu is back with another crime thriller titled Anukshanam, which has hit the screens across the globe today (September 13). Before its release, the movie has created lot of buzz in the media for two reasons i.e. its unique content and the novel distribution technology introduced to Tollywood by the makers of the movie.

As it is mentioned above, Anukshanam is a crime thriller and Vishnu Manchu's electrifying performance is the main highlight of the film. Ram Gopal Varma's novel concept and arresting screenplay, brilliant background score and amazing camera work are other attractions of the movie. Some illogical scenes and lack of clarity in some scenes in the second half are its biggest drawbacks.

As usual, Ram Gopal Varma has chosen a wonderful subject for Anukshanam that has never been seen in Telugu films in the past. He is also successful creating a brilliant screenplay for it. The film has a very fast-paced narration that makes the viewers sit on the edge of the seats and watch it biting their nails. Especially in the second half, the pace is so fast that he seems to be hurrying towards the climax. So he has failed to provide clarity in many scenes in this portion.

Gautam (Vinshu Manchu) is a DCP in Hyderabad and he takes charge of the case of a psycho killer after a series of murders take place in the city. When he does not get clues about the serial killer, he takes the help of Shailajaa (Revathi) a research specialist on psycho killers. How he nabs the killer will form the crux of the story, which should be watched on big screen and enjoyed.

Vishnu Manchu, who is known for his action comedy movies, has essayed never-played-before role in Anukshanam and he has delivered a brilliant performance, which is the biggest asset of the film. Revathi, Navdeep, Tejaswi Madivada, Madhu Shalini and Brahmanandam have played important roles in the film and they have done justice to their roles. Their performances are also among the big assets of the film.

Anukshanam has brilliant production values and superb background score is the main highlight in the technical front. It helps the director to heighten the intensity of many scary scenes. The cinematography is excellent and it is another big highlight. Other technical departments have also delivered commendable jobs.

Overall, Anukshanam is a good psycho thriller movie that has ever been made in Tollywood. It is a grand treat for the lovers of crime thrillers. It is one of the best directorial ventures of Ram Gopal Varma. Vishnu is sure to rock the viewers. Don't miss it, if you are a fan of crime thrillers.
