Loukyam - Movie Review: Perfect Treat For Family Audience

Gopichand's latest outing Loukyam, which has been creating positive buzz in the media for a long time, has released in theatres today (September 26). Padavulu Pandavulu Tummeda fame Srivas has directed the film, which features Rakul Preet Singh, Sonu Sood, Bramhanandam and Hamsa Nandini in important roles.

Loukyam is a romantic comedy film with all the family entertainer elements. Gopichand's sterling performance is the main highlight of the film. Srivas' direction, Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan's interesting screenplay, Anoop Rubens' music, Vetri's cinematography, Rakul Preet Singh's glamour, Bramhanandam's comedy, Hamsa Nandini's item dance, hilarious dialogues, beautiful costumes and exotic locales are other attractions of the movie. The predictable story is the biggest drawback of the film.

Sridhar Seepana has penned a routine story for Loukyam that has been tried and tested a few times in the past. Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan have created an amazing screenplay, which is the right blend of romance, comedy, action and other commercial ingredients. The movie has past-paced narration and director Srivas has an amazing grip on the tempo, which will never allow you to move out of your seats from the beginning to the end.

Loukyam opens with a chase sequence in which hero is seen running away with goon's daughter in Warangal. The first half of the film is high on comedy and Bramhi keeps tickling your funny bones here and there. A small twist before interval gains momentum for the story. The second half is equally entertaining and a host of comedians including Hamsa Nandini rocks you. The climax is also good, but predictable.

Venky aka Venkateshwarulu (Gopichand) is a happy go lucky guy. He helps his friend elope with dreaded don Babji's (Sampath) daughter Neetu (Shyamala) from Warangal. Venky runs away to Hyderabad, when Babji starts searching for him. He he falls in love with Chandrakala (Rakul Preet Singh). In an interesting twist, Venky realises that Chandra is the sister of Babji. What happens next will form the crux of the story.

Gopichand, who is seen as a diplomatic young man handling any difficult situation with smile on his face, has given a brilliant performance. He rocks you with his amazing action, romance and perfect comedy timing. Rakul Preet Singh looks cute and she impresses you with her glamourous-killer looks quotient. The lead pair's chemistry is one of the main highlights.

Apart from Gopichand, Bramhanandam has equally performed well and his comedy timing is the USP of Loukyam. Other artistes like Prithvi, Chandra Mohan, Krishna Bhagvan, Hamsa Nandini and Sakalaka Shankar have also contributed a lot to the comic quotient of the film. Kovai Sarala, Sampath Raj, Pradeep Rawat, Posani Krishna Murali and Raghu Babu have also done justice to their roles.

Loukyam has good production elements and Anoop Rubens' music is the main highlight in the technical front. His songs are good to listen and his background score elevates the intensity of several scenes. Vetri has done wonderful camera work and his cinematography is another big asset of the film. The choreography of action and dance and SR Sekhar's editing are good. The punch dialogues are among the big assets of the film. Other technical departments have also done commendable jobs.

Overall, Loukyam is a decent family entertainer with a high comic quotient. The movie has everything for mass audience too. Especially, it will be a grand treat for the lovers of comedy films. It is a good time-passer for this weekend. Continue to read Loukyam movie review by viewers in the slideshow.
