Veta - Movie Review

Rating:
2.5/5
Telugu actors Srikanth and Tarun, who are going through bad phase, are leaving no stone unturned to resurrect their struggling careers. They have joined hands with director Ashok Alle for their latest venture Veta, but once again their efforts are turning out to be futile. They have failed to choose an interesting script. They have selected a routine story for Veta, which fails to impress the viewers despite their hard works.

Veta is a romantic action movie with all commercial ingredients. Srikanth's wonderful performance, Ashok's interesting screenplay, Chakri's background score, Krishna Bhagvan's comedy and beautiful picturisation are some of its big attractions. Unimpressive soundtracks, forced romance between Tarun and Jasmine, slow-paced narration in the first half and predictable plot in the second half are its drawbacks.

Ashok Alle has selected a tried and tested revenge drama for Veta and blended it with a few routine twists and turns, which make the film a boring watch. The first half of the movie lacks entertainment quotient. In addition, the director has unnecessarily stretched Tarun's love story, which makes the narration dragging. The story becomes predictable in the second half.

Story
Jagan (Srikanth), who is staying with his brother Karthik (Tarun) and two adopted siblings, works under a crooked don named Dev Raj (Ajaz Khan). Jagan's adopted sister Pravalika (Deepthi Vajpayee), who is a TV reporter, exposes Dev Raj's scam. Irked brothers of Dev Raj, kill Pravalika. How Jagan and Karthik take revenge against Dev Raj will form the crux of the movie Veta.

Performance
As usual, Srikanth has delivered excellent performance in Veta and he impresses viewers in the sentimental and action scenes. Tarun has also done justice to his role. But Jasmine, who has played his love interest, has failed to deliver good performance. Their chemistry is a big letdown. Deepthi Vajpayee has also done her best. Krishna Bhagvan has tried his best to tickle the funny bones of audiences.

Technical
The production values of Veta is average and the cinematography is the main attraction in the technical front. Chakri's background score is another big strength of the movie, but his song compositions are not good and they fail to impress viewers. The director has failed to get right kind of work from all other technical departments.

Overall, Veta is a routine revenge drama. Srikanth's performance, a few comedy and emotional scenes keep you engaged and entertained here and there. But otherwise, the film is an average fare.
