Dohchay Movie Review: Naga Chaitanya, Kriti Sanon

Rating:
2.5/5

After a surprising hit Swamy Ra Ra, Sudheer Varma has teamed up with Naga Chaitanya and Kriti Sanon, for another con film, Dohchay. Let us see how far the director has succeeded to come out of the most common second film jinx.

Dohchay Story

More than the story, the film depends largely on the treatment of the film. Dohchay is yet another crime comedy or a con film. Naga Chaitanya (Chandu) involves in the con job and Kriti Sanon (Meera) is a Medical Student. The circumstances that led him to become so forms the crux of the story.

Performances

Naga Chaitanya was seen as a con man and sported a super stylish look like never before. He has improved a lot in the dialogue delivery and he has been showcasing a constant growth in his acting skills from movie to movie. Chay has put in his great efforts in the dance numbers and one must appreciate the determined attempt. The special training he has gone through for the action sequences was quite evident on screen.

Kriti Sanon has got a role with substance and this film shall give her a break in Telugu industry. Fresh and funny love track between the lead pair provided great scope for her to prove her mettle. Rao Ramesh, Ravi Babu were apt for their roles. Posani and Saptagiri managed to fill in the laughs while Brahmi steals the show as Bullet Babu with his unusual timing.

Technical Aspects

Director Sudheer Varma seems somewhere stuck with his first film and unable to deliver a fresh subject. The film would have made more impact if it was promoted as a sequel to his first film Swamy Ra Ra.

The screen play of the film falls flat in many parts and turns boring though the it has an ideal run time of 138 minutes. Sunny M R failed to engage audience with his tunes while he was brilliant with the background score. Cinematography by Richard Prasad takes the pedestal.

Overview

Looks like Sudheer Varma is also stuck with the second film jinx. Lost in the middle of no where, he mixed up his super hit film Swamy Ra Ra into Dohchay and has lend the support of Brahmi to save the film. Court scene in the climax stands as the only good scene in the second half. If you don't mind some lags and if you are lover of con films, you can give it a try for the comedy and action episodes.
