Soukhyam Movie Review: A Rehash Of Recent Comedy Entertainers

By Super

After the success of Pilla Nuvvu Leni Jeevitham, director A S Ravi Kumar Chowdary is back again with Regina Cassandra along with his Yagnam hero, Gopichand. Read the review to know if the successful combination scored a hit with Soukhyam too.

Soukhyam Story:

Rating:
2.0/5

It is a love story laced around with a heavy dosage of comedy, action and family drama. Seenu(Gopichand) falls in love with Shailu(Regina) at the first sight, when he sees her during a train journey and Shailu, who believes in destiny, eventually realizes it is Seenu, who is meant for her. However, the twists arise as Regina's family is introduced. What are the consequences the couple has to go through? Did Seenu win Shailu's love with everybody's acceptance? This forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Gopichand did his best as Seenu, the quintessential hero. Regina was decent enough as Shailu, a typical girl next door. It is Prudhvi again, who stole the show with his Baahubali spoof. Brahmanandam as Inspector Daya will also leave you in splits. Sapthagari, Mukesh Rushi, Raghu Babu, Jayaprakash Reddy, Pradeep Rawat, Rajan, Posani etc supported the story well.

Technical Aspects:

Director Ravi Kumar Chowdary relies on the tried and tested formula almost till the end and he ends up relying on the comedy scenes to keep the proceedings going. The story and most of its characters leave a sense of déjà vu, especially in terms of the treatment of the film. Even though the first half has a few laughs and a little romance, the director has taken a lot of time to actually get into the story. Anup Rubens songs were nothing less than boomerangs and dialogues by Kona Venkat rhymes absurdly. The editor should have made use of his scissors to use and the cinematography was okay. On the positive side, comedy at parts, worked very well.

Overview:

Soukhyam feels like downright crass after watching the same predictable drama a thousand times by now in Telugu films. We doubt even if the people who love mere comedy entertainers would enjoy this film, which failed to serve any purpose. READ MORE IN THE SLIDES BELOW.
