At
times
South
cinema
is
hugely
banking
on
horror
comedies,
yet
another
film
from
the
same
genre,
Tripura
released
today,
starring
Swathi
Reddy
and
Naveen
Chandra
in
the
lead.

the
review

know
if
it
manages
to
pull
off
the
hit
formula.

Tripura
Story:
The
story
tracks
to
the
life
of
a
village
girl,
Tripura
(Swathi
Reddy),
who
sees
the
future
through
dreams.
She
meets
Chandra
(Naveen
Chandra)
and
eventually
get
married
to
him
to
kick-start
a
new
life,
moving
to
the
city.
But
what
is
troubling
her
from
having
a
happy
life?
What
role
does
Eesha
(Pooja)
play
in
Chandra
and
Tripura's
life?
You
got
to
unleash
the
threads
in
theaters.
Performances:
Swathi
Reddy
has
excelled
in
the
role
of
a
matured
woman,
which
is
totally
contrary
to
her
image.
Though
her
voice
was
a
little
amateur
in
some
of
the
key
scenes,
she
managed
to
pull
it
off
with
her
acting
skills.
Naveen
Chandra
was
at
ease
and
was
successful
in
inching
the
curiosity
on
his
character.
Pooja
Ramachandra,
though
had
a
limited
role,
was
good
enough.
Saptagiri
takes
home
all
the
claps
and
cheers
with
his
funny
traits.
Technical
Aspects
&
Analysis:
Director
Raj
Kiran,
who
managed
to
score
a
hit
with
Geetanjali,
seems
to
have
stuck
deep
in
formula.
Touted
to
be
a
horror
thriller,
Tripura
is
largely
boring
because
of
its
routine
story.
The
director
vested
a
lot
of
time
in
establishing
the
characters
and
has
taken
the
support
of
comedians
to
fill
up
the
vacuum,
which
again
was
very
mediocre.
The
story
unleashes
only
in
the
last
reels
and
the
flow
of
the
film
was
a
bumpy
ride.
However,
few
twists
here
and
there,
balances
the
film
greatly.
Music
by
Kamaran
failed
to
create
any
interest.
Performances
of
the
entire
cast
deserves
a
mention,
as
they
played
a
major
role
in
enhancing
the
product.
However,
the
major
complaint
we
have
about
the
film
is,
it
is
barely
frightening
and
we
think
it
doesn't
fall
into
horror
genre.
Overview:
If
you
are
a
sucker
for
horror
comedies,
Tripura
can
easily
go
well
with
you.
Though
the
movie
was
a
little
sloppy,
it
manages
to
entertain
the
audience.
However,
Swathi's
hat-trick
hit
after
Swamy
Ra
Ra
and
Karthikeya,
becomes
doubtful.
