5 Highly Anticipated Malayalam Films Set For Release In May 2025

Asif Ali’s upcoming film Abhyanthara Kuttavali is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2025. Marking the directorial debut of Sethunath Padmakumar, the film follows Sahadevan, a man facing trial over dowry-related abuse charges. Alongside Asif, the cast includes Thulasi, Jagadish, Harisree Ashokan, Prem Kumar, Sidharth Bharathan, and Azees Nedumangad. Produced by Naisam Salam, the film’s technical crew features Ajay David Kachappilly as cinematographer, Sobin K Soman as editor, and music by Bijibal, Muthu, and Christy Joby.

Lovely, a 3D fantasy comedy-drama centered around a housefly, is set to hit theatres on May 2, 2025. Written and directed by Dileesh Karunakaran, the film marks his return to direction after Tamaar Padaar. Dileesh is also known for co-writing acclaimed films like Salt N’ Pepper, Da Thadiya, Idukki Gold, and Mayaanadhi. Mathew Thomas plays the lead role, with cinematography by Aashiq Abu.

Director Thamar KV’s Sarkeet, starring Asif Ali and Divya Prabha, is slated for release on May 8. Touted as a family entertainer with strong survival and emotional elements, the film also features Deepak Parambol and Orhan in key roles. Produced by Ajith Vinayaka Films, Aeyaz handling the cinematography, Govind Vasantha composing the music, and Sangeeth Prathap on the editing table.

Dileep’s Prince and Family, has been rescheduled for release on May 9, moving from its initial April date. The film marks the directorial debut of Binto Stephen and is written by Sharis Mohammed. Backed by Listin Stephen under the Magic Frames banner, with Justin Stephen as co-producer, the film features a talented technical team, Renadive on cinematography, Sagar Dass handling the edits, and Sanal Dev composing the music.

Tovino Thomas starrer Narivetta, a highly anticipated thriller, is set to hit the big screen on May 16, 2025. Helmed by Anuraj Manohar and penned by Abin Binoj, the film is supported by Joseph, a noted journalist and Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar awardee. Backed by Tippu Shah and Shiyas Hassan under the Indian Film Company banner, Narivetta also features Suraj Venjaramoodu and Tamil actor-director Cheran. The film’s visuals are captured by Vijay, with Shameer Muhammed on the editing desk and music composed by Jakes Bejoy.
