Akhil Marar  who made his directorial debut in,2021 with a family-comedy drama 'Oru Thathvika Avalokanam' which featured Joju George in the lead role. The script is penned by Akhil Marar, featured a stellar cast including Aju Varghese, Shammi Thilakan, Mammukoya, Abhirami and others.The film was released in theaters and declared as box-office failure. In addition, Akhil also worked with prominent filmmakers in the industry. In 2015, he worked as an associate director with filmmaker Bijukumar Damodaran for his National Award winning movie 'Perariyathavar'. 

After his debut movie, Akhil who got an invitation from Actor Mohanlal, to attend the audition of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5 in 2021. Later, he announced his selection to the popluar reality show 'Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5' and made a grand entry along with another 17 contestants to the platform on 26th March 2023. 

As a contestant, Akhil who has been praised for his gameplay on the platform. He had gained the attention of audience after receiving much-criticism from the host Mohanlal for his flaming attitude towards other inmates.
