Assi Movie 2026: Cast, Release Date, Plot & Everything to Know About Taapsee Pannu’s Courtroom Drama

After a gap of two years, Taapsee Pannu is set to return to the big screen. She was last seen in Akshay Kumar’s comedy Khel Khel Mein. The actress recently surprised fans by unveiling the first motion poster of her upcoming film Assi. Her intense and gritty look hints at a powerful performance, making it clear that the film could be one of her most impactful works yet. Along with the motion poster, the makers also officially announced the film’s release date.

The cast of Assi is led by Taapsee Pannu in the central role. She is joined by an impressive ensemble including Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Zeeshan Ayub, and Naseeruddin Shah in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha under the banners of Benaras Mediaworks and T-Series Films. 

Taapsee Pannu shared the exciting update with her fans on Instagram by unveiling the motion poster of her upcoming film Assi. Along with the clip, she wrote, “It’s been long… Long since we normalised this…. See you in court… I mean the theatres… #Assi – an urgent watch, only in cinemas from 20th Feb.” The first look sets a dark, heavy, and intense tone, showing Taapsee being chased by three men along railway tracks, while the haunting line “Uss raat vo ghar nahi pohnchi” appears on screen, hinting at the film’s disturbing and powerful narrative.

The investigative thriller and courtroom drama Assi, starring Taapsee Pannu and directed by Anubhav Sinha, is set to hit theatres on February 20, 2026. The film marks yet another collaboration between Pannu and Sinha and delves deep into themes of justice, accountability, and social conscience.

Apart from Assi, Taapsee Pannu is also teaming up with Devashish Makhija for a revenge thriller titled Gandhari, which is scheduled for release in 2026. Additionally, reports suggest that the actress is preparing for the third instalment of her popular franchise Haseen Dillruba, further exciting fans about her upcoming projects.
