Bollywood & South Indian Movies Releasing on Pongal/Sankranti 2023

Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu is one of the most-awaited movies of this year Pongal release. Starring Rashimika Mandana in the female lead role alongside Vijay, the film is directed and written by Vaashi Paidipally. He is famous for  directing super-hit Telugu films such as: Munna, Brindavanam, Yevadu, Oopiri, and Maharshi.

The film also marks second Tamil debut of Rashmika Madanna after Sultan. Talking about the release date the film, Varisu will hit the theatres on 11th January 2023.

Billed as an action thriller, Ajith starrer 'Thunivu' will hit the theatres on January 11. 
Directed by H. Vinoth, the film also features Manju Warrier in the lead role. Thunivu will clash at the box office with Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu. As both films are hitting the theatres on January 11, fans are waiting with bated breath.

This is the third collaboration between Ajith Kumar, director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor.

God of Masses Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy is one of the most-anticipated Telugu movies this year. Touted to be a mass entertainer Veera Simha Reddy which tells the story of a powerful man who is born in Pulicharla, studied in Anantapur, and is now the most-respected, God-like figure of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The film features Senior Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna in the titular role. 

Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya will be hitting the theaters on January 13th, 2023. This also marks, after decades both the stars are clashing at box-office. In all eariler Sankranti clashing Balakrishna's movies are won in Sankranti race.

Directed by Gopichand Malineni, the film features Sruthi Hassan in the female lead role. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Duniya Vijay appear as the antagonists in the film, which features Lal, Malayalam actress Honey Rose, Chandrika Ravi in the supporting roles.

Walter Veerayya is directed by Bobby Kolli and features Chiranjeevi in the title role along with Ravi Teja who plays an extended cameo as ACP Vikram Sagar IPS. Shruti Haasan plays a female protagonist role in this film. 

Touted to be a mass-action entertainer the film, surpirses the audience with liberal dose of action scenes and punch dialogues.

Directed by Bobby, Devi Sri Prasad serves as the music composer for Waltair Veerayya. The film will hit the screens on January 13.

Aasmaan Bharadwaj's directorial Kuttey will release in theatres on January 13, 2023. The film stars Arjun Kapoor, Radhika Madan, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, and many more in key roles. The trailer of the film gained the attention of the audience with Arjun Kapoor in action mode along with Tabu and both will play an investigating officer and a cop in the drama.

Directed by Anil Kumar Aalla's ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’ will be released in theatres 
on January 14. Starring Santosh Shobhan and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles, the film is produced by renowned production company UV Creations.

Telugu superstar, Prabhas has extended his support to Santosh Shoban ahead of his film’s release. Anushka Shetty also posted it on social media.

Orchestra Mysuru is a Kannada film, which stars Poornachandra Mysuru and Rajalakshmi as the leads. Touted to be a musical entertainer, the film depicts the story of an aspiring young man who dreams to sing in an orchestra. This will be the only Kannada film released this year for Sankranthi. 

Directed by Sunil Mysooru, the film is produced by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj’s KRG Studios and Dhananajay’s Daali Pictures The film will hit the theatres on January 12.

'Mission Majnu' is one of the most-awaited movies of this year. Directed by Shantanu Bagchi and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Amar Butala, and Garima Mehta, 'Mission Majnu' is a spy thriller drama. It tells the untold story of India's apparently greatest covert operation. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, the film will directly premiere on Netflix on January 20th, 2023.
