Chinmayi Sripada was born 10 September, 1984, known mononymously as Chinmayi, is a celebrated Indian playback singer and voice artist, predominantly working in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Renowned for her wide vocal range, linguistic fluency, and emotive expression, she has firmly established herself as one of the most versatile and popular singers in South India. Her mesmerizing voice has touched millions, making her a beloved figure in the Indian music industry.

Born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, into a Tamil Brahmin family, Chinmayi was introduced to the world of music at a tender age. Trained by her mother Padmhasini T, a classical vocalist, she began learning Carnatic music at the age of 3, later transitioning to Hindustani classical music. At just 10 years old, she received the CCRT Scholarship for Young Talent from the Government of India. Chinmayi holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Madras and is also a trained Odissi dancer. A true polyglot, she speaks Tamil, Telugu, English, Hindi, German, French, and Marathi fluently, and has working knowledge of Spanish, Malayalam, Kannada, and Punjabi.

Chinmayi found love in South Indian actor Rahul Ravindran. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship by mid-2013, and they got engaged later that year. The couple tied the knot on 5 May 2014 in a traditional ceremony. On 18 June 2022, Chinmayi and Rahul were blessed with twins, a boy and a girl, whom they named Driptah and Sharvas, marking a joyful new chapter in their lives.

In 2018, singer Chinmayi Sripada was expelled from the South Indian Cine, Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union (SICTADAU) shortly after she voiced support for women who accused union president Radha Ravi of sexual misconduct during the Me Too movement. Although she obtained an interim court stay and technically remains a member, she continues to face a shadow ban in the Tamil film industry, with dubbing offers nearly non-existent and singing opportunities significantly reduced.

 As of 2025, no inquiry has been initiated against Radha Ravi despite multiple allegations, and the union has still not formed an Internal Complaints Committee (IC) as required by law. Chinmayi, now serving as Vice President of the Tamil Nadu Vellithirai and Chinnathirai Voice Artistes Union, highlights this gap and notes that her union has set a precedent by establishing an active IC. She also points out that only A.R. Rahman’s studio maintains a functioning IC, while efforts by the Cine Musicians' Union to form one stalled after the pandemic. Despite legal victories, Chinmayi remains professionally sidelined in the Tamil industry.

Chinmayi began her singing career with A.R. Rahman's "Oru Dheivam Thanta Poove" and went on to sing over 2,000 songs in 10 languages, gaining acclaim in both South Indian and Bollywood films. She has also actively contributed to charity through music-based initiatives like "Sing for Charity." As a dubbing artist, she lent her voice to top actresses in Tamil and Telugu films, including Trisha, Samantha, and Mrunal Thakur, and made her Kannada debut with Leo. On television, she hosted shows like Airtel Super Singer and Chhote Ustaad, and judged music competitions. Chinmayi has also anchored major events in Indian cinema, including the 100 Years of Indian Cinema celebration.

In 2015, Chinmayi co-founded Heka Studios, an architectural and interior design firm. Her interest in global beauty trends led her to South Korea in 2018, inspiring her to launch Isle of Skin, a brand that legally imports Korean and Taiwanese skincare products to India. In November 2021, she expanded into wellness with the opening of her medi-spa Deep Skin Dialogues (DSD) in Chennai, inaugurated by actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. A second branch of DSD was launched in Hyderabad in May 2022, cementing her status as a dynamic and innovative entrepreneur.

Beyond music, Chinmayi has carved a niche for herself as a successful entrepreneur. In August 2005, she founded Blue Elephant, a translation services company that has served major clients like Ford, Dell, Ashok Leyland, and Reliance. Her excellence was recognized in 2010 when she received the SAARC Chamber Award for Women Entrepreneurship. In 2011, she made history as the first woman entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu to be selected for the prestigious FORTUNE/US State Department Global Women's Mentoring Partnership Program.
