From Dhurandhar To Animal: Bollywood’s Highest-Grossing A-Grade Films That Ruled the Box Office

The film stands as the highest-grossing A-rated movie in Indian cinema history, earning over ₹1,085 crore worldwide and ₹741.90 crore net in India within just 24 days of its release. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, alongside Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. 

Animal (2023), starring Ranbir Kapoor, was the previous record-holder among A-rated Bollywood films. The action-packed drama earned around ₹917 crore worldwide and ₹556.36 crore domestically. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Bobby Deol, and several other talented actors.

Kabir Singh (2019) is a romantic drama starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. The film was a huge hit, earning around ₹379 crore worldwide and ₹278.24 crore in India. It tells the story of Kabir, a talented but troubled surgeon, whose deep love for Preeti becomes obsessive after heartbreak, leading him into a journey of anger, regret, and self-discovery. Strong performances and intense emotions made it one of the highest-grossing A-rated Bollywood films.

The Kashmir Files (2022), directed and written by Vivek Agnihotri, is a Hindi drama that earned around ₹340.92 crore worldwide and ₹252.90 crore in India. The film is based on the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Kashmir. It follows Krishna Pandit (Darshan Kumar), a college student who thinks his parents died in an accident. After his grandfather (Anupam Kher) passes away, Krishna goes to Kashmir and discovers the tragic truth about his family and the struggles of the community during that time. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi.

The Kerala Story (2023) is a Hindi-language drama directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, released on 5 May 2023. The controversial film earned around ₹242.20 crore in India and explores the radicalization and recruitment of three young women from Kerala into ISIS. The story follows Shalini Unnikrishnan (Adah Sharma), a nursing student who is brainwashed and forced to convert to Islam, eventually traveling to Syria and Afghanistan where she faces imprisonment. The film also stars Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani.
