From Kalamkaval To Vrusshabha: Five Malayalam Christmas Releases Everyone’s Talking About

Megastar Mammootty’s highly anticipated thriller drama, Kalamkaval, is all set to hit theaters on December 5, 2025. The film marks the directorial debut of Jithin K Jose, who co-wrote the story and screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar. Alongside Mammootty, the cast includes Vinayakan and Rajisha Vijayan in pivotal roles. The Kerala distribution rights have been acquired by Dulquer Salmaan’s banner, Wayfarer Films. Rachel, directed by debutante Anandhini Bala, is billed as a gritty, action-packed revenge drama. The screenplay, written by filmmaker Abrid Shine, is based on a story by Rahul Manappattu. The screenplay has been penned by the actor couple Noorin Shereef and Fahim Safar. Alongside Dileep, the movie features a star-studded cast including Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Balu Varghese, Saranya Ponvannan, Sidharth Bharathan, Baiju Santhosh, Ashokan, and Maniyanpilla Raju. According to reports, Bha Bha Ba is slated for a theatrical release on December 18, 2025.

The much-anticipated Malayalam film Sarvam Maya, starring Nivin Pauly and directed by Akhil Sathyan, is set to hit theaters this Christmas. This marks the first collaboration between Nivin and Akhil Sathyan, with the movie billed as a musical romantic drama that seamlessly blends humor and fantasy. Preity Mukhundhan takes on the female lead in this enchanting tale. The film’s technical team boasts music by Justin Prabhakaran, cinematography by Sharan Velayudhan, and editing by Akhil Sathyan himself.

The Mohanlal-starrer Vrusshabha, an upcoming multilingual period epic, is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2025, clashing with Nivin Pauly’s Sarvam Maya. Directed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore and jointly produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R. Kapoor, CK Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Saurabh Mishra, Abishek S. Vyas, Praveer Singh, Vishal Gurnani, and Juhi Parekh Mehta, the film reportedly features Mohanlal as a king in a grand period storyline, with an ensemble cast that includes Samarjit Lankesh, Ragini Dwivedi, and Nayan Sarika. The movie’s music is composed by Sam CS, with dialogues by SRK, Janardhan Maharshi, and Karthik, while the technical team boasts sound design by Resul Pookutty, cinematography by Antony Samson, and editing by KM Prakash.
