From 'Maidaan' to 'Sam Bahadur', upcoming Bollywood biopics of 2023

Ajay Devgan's 'Maidaan' is one of the highly anticipated Hindi biopics of 2023. Touted to be a sports drama, it tells the story of Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary football coach from Hyderabad. Helmed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the film features Ajay Devgan, Priyamani and , Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh in the lead roles. The film is produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor  Arunava Joy Sengupta and Akash Chawla. Written by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah, the music is composed by A.R.Rahman. As per the latest resources, the film is set to hit the theaters on 23rd June 2023.

'Emergency ' is a upcoming Hindi biopic based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Directed by Kangan Ranaut, it marks her second directorial after Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Kangana will plays the protagonist role  of 'Indira Gandhi' in the movie. The actress dropped her first look from the film along with the teaser on the last year had gained the attention of audience. Apart Kanagana, it also features Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Shreyas Talpade and  Mollywood actor Vishak Nair in the prominent roles. 

'Capsule Gill 'is a real story based on  a chief mining engineer, Jaswant Singh Gill who saved the lives of 65 people when a coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal, was flooded in 1989. Actor Akhshay Kumar who will be seen in the role of  Jaswant Singh Gill in the movie. Directed by Tinu Suresh Sai, the film marks his second collaboration with Akshay Kumar after 'Rustom'. Actress Parineeti Chopra who will plays a lead role in the movie, will be released in November 2023.

Helmed by  Prosit Roy the film 'Chakda'Xpress' marks comeback of actress Anushka Sharma after five years. The film is reunion of director Prosit Roy with Anushka Sharma after "Pari". Titled as a Chakda'Xpress is a biopic of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami. Actress Anushka Sharma will be essaying the role of Jhulan Goswami in the movie. The shooting for the film had started in June on the last year, released this year. The most-anticipated film will be produced by Anushka's brother Karnesh Sharma under the banner of  his production company  Clean Slate Filmz.  

Starring Ishaan Kattar and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles, 'Pippa' is one of the most-anticipated biopics this year. The film which depicts the story of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. Helmed by Raja  Krishna Menon, it also features Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan. A.R.Rahman composed music for the film.  According to latest reports, the film is set to hit the big-screen in December 2023. 

Vikash Verma 's 'The Good Maharaja' is also comes under the list. Based on a real incident, the film which tells the story  Maharaja of Jamnagar named Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja who saved one thousand polish kids during world war II. Starring Sanjay Dutt, Dhruv Verma, and Sharad Kapoor in the lead, the film will be released in theaters on 10th November 2023. 

Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur  to be released on December 1, 2023. Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, the film marks her second collaboration with Vicky Kaushal after 'Razi'. The film is a based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.  Actor Vicky Kaushal will be seen in the movie as Sam Manekshaw while  Saniya  Malhotra as Sam Manekshaw's wife Silloo. Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh will be essaying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The teaser of the film was released by actor Vicky on the last year,  had impressed  his fan and followers. As  per the resources, the film is set to hit the theaters on December 1, 2023.
