From Sushant Singh Rajput to Sanchita Ugale: Tragic Celebrity Deaths That Shocked the Nation

Sanchita Ugale was a 22-year-old Indian television and film actress who passed away on June 14, 2026. She was best known for her role as Diya Tandon in the popular television drama Kumkum Bhagya. Sanchita died by suicide at her family home in Nalasopara East, in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. She was found alone in her bedroom by family members around 7:00 PM and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, leaving the industry and her fans in deep shock. 

Sushant Singh Rajput was a highly acclaimed Indian actor, dancer, and entrepreneur who left a lasting impact on Hindi cinema before his untimely passing on June 14, 2020. Known for his versatility and sharp intellect, he made a successful transition from television to becoming one of Bollywood’s most celebrated leading actors. After years of investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report in early 2025, ruling out foul play and confirming his death as a case of suicide. 

Pratyusha Banerjee was a popular Indian television actress, best known for her memorable role as the adult Anandi in the widely acclaimed show Balika Vadhu. Born on August 10, 1991, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, she rose to fame at a young age and became a household name across India. Tragically, her life was cut short when she was found dead in her Mumbai apartment on April 1, 2016, at just 24 years old. 

Tunisha Sharma was a young and talented Indian television and film actress who tragically passed away at the age of 20. She was widely known for her roles in popular Hindi TV shows and for portraying the younger version of Katrina Kaif in films. Her untimely death sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. Following a complaint filed by her mother, her co-star and former boyfriend, Sheezan Khan, was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide. He spent around 70 days in judicial custody before being granted bail by a Maharashtra court in March 2023. 

Actor Kushal Punjabi passed away on December 26, 2019, in a case ruled as suicide. According to reports, he had been dealing with depression and was going through significant personal challenges, including health concerns and a difficult separation from his spouse. Police recovered a note from his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, in which he stated that no one should be held responsible for his decision.
