Journalist Saurabh Dwivedi Set for Bollywood Debut With Saif Ali Khan’s Upcoming Cop Drama

Saurabh Dwivedi (born April 22, 1983) is a leading Indian journalist and editor, best known as the founding editor of The Lallantop. Recognized for his conversational interview style, sharp political coverage, and digital-first approach, he joined The Indian Express in January 2026 to head its Hindi digital initiatives. 

Born in Orai, Uttar Pradesh, Saurabh Dwivedi has built a career spanning over 15 years, with key roles at Navbharat Times and India Today (Hindi). He holds a Master’s degree in Hindi Literature along with an M.Phil from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and also earned a diploma in mass communication from Indian Institute of Mass Communication. 

Saurabh Dwivedi is all set to make his acting debut with the upcoming Netflix original film Kartavya, an investigative drama that marks a major career shift for the seasoned journalist following his recent exit from The Lallantop. In the film, he will be seen sharing screen space with actors like Saif Ali Khan, Rasika Dugal, and Sanjay Mishra. 

Kartavya is an upcoming crime thriller set to release on Netflix India on May 15, 2026. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, led by Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, the film marks director Pulkit’s second collaboration with the platform after Bhakshak. The story follows an honest police officer, Pawan Malik, played by Saif Ali Khan, who finds himself at a moral crossroads while investigating the mysterious murder of a journalist. As threats against his family intensify, the narrative unfolds as a gripping battle between duty and action, exploring how far one man will go to uphold his oath while protecting his loved ones. 

The upcoming film Kartavya (2026), set to stream on Netflix, features a strong mix of seasoned actors and fresh talent. The cast is led by Saif Ali Khan as Pawan Malik, an honest cop at the center of a moral conflict, alongside Rasika Dugal in a key role. The film also marks the Bollywood debut of Saurabh Dwivedi, with supporting performances from Sanjay Mishra, Manish Chaudhari, and Zakir Hussain. Directed by Pulkit, known for Bhakshak, the film is produced by Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.
