Kannur Squad Vs Chaaver Box Office Collection: Mammootty Film Leads

Megastar Mammootty's much-awaited thriller film 'Kannur Squad' hit theaters and received excellent responses from the audience. The film's opening day saw great collections as it is estimated that it earned Rs 6 crores at the worldwide box office. In terms of the first-day box office figures, 'Kannur Squad' claimed the top spot, surpassing Kunchacko Boban's 'Chaaver'

The film Kannur Squad witnessed a box office clash with Tamil movie Chandramukhi 2, directed by P.Vasu, and hit screens on September 28. Talking about its box office performance, the film earned a total of 20 crore in Kerala and Rs 42 crore from world wide on its 7 days of release. Reports shows that the film 'Chaaver'made a modest debut at the box office and collected only 67 lakhs on the opening day. Compared with Kannur Squad, the film Chaaver received poor to mixed responses from critics and audiences alike.

Kannur Squad has surpassed Drishyam's worldwide box office records. According to reports, the film secured a position among the top 10 highest-grossing Malayalam films, displacing Drishyam's collection.The film hit the cinemas and achieved an impressive milestone, earning Rs 50 crores globally within just nine days.

The reports are revealed that the movie did not performed very well at the box office on the opening day. Following the initial screenings, opinions on the film have been mixed, with some viewers finding it merely decent, while others have found it less engaging. It hasn't garnered the unanimous acclaim akin to 'Lucifer,' with a few netizens suggesting that the screenplay lacked finesse. Moreover, drawing a direct comparison between 'Chaaver' and 'Kannur Squad' may not be apt, as the latter boasts a combination of mass appeal and technical prowess. All in all, the film delivers a mediocre performance at the box office.

Kannur Squad takes its inspiration from an actual team of police officers, famously recognized as the Kannur Squad, which was established during the tenure of former Kannur SP, S. Sreejith. The film stars renowned actors like Mammootty and Kishore Kumar G in leading roles and has received positive reviews, marking a noteworthy accomplishment for the entire cast and crew.

At the same time, Tinu Pappachan's 'Chaaver' delves into the political thriller genre, frequently exploring real-world political events, espionage, and the intricacies of power and governance. Actor Kunchacko Boban was undeniably the main highlight of the film, and it's evident that he truly captivated the audience.

The film hit theaters on September 28, will start streaming on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar on November 17, 2023. Chaaaver is a political action movie which is directed by Tinu  Pappchan and scripted by Joy Mathew released on October 5 had starred Kunchacko Boban, Arjun Ashokan, and Antony Varghese in lead roles.
