Lal Salaam OTT Release Date Announced - Streaming from June 6 on Sun NXT!

The long-delayed Lal Salaam has finally locked its OTT release date. The sports drama, featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in a special role, will begin streaming on Sun NXT from June 7, 2025. Fans who missed the theatrical release can now enjoy this film from the comfort of their homes.

The film follows Moinuddin Bhai (Rajinikanth), an influential businessman who dreams of making his son Shamsuddin (Vikranth) an Indian cricketer. He even arranges for him to train under legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. However, a cricket rivalry between two villages—Kasumuru and Venkatachalam—leads to a series of conflicts that change their lives forever. The film explores religious tensions, village disputes, and a father’s relentless fight for justice.

Rajinikanth plays Moinuddin Bhai, a businessman and cricket enthusiast, but the role lacks depth due to weak character design. However, his presence in the second half adds emotional weight. Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth deliver solid performances, keeping the narrative engaging. Jeevitha Rajasekhar impresses in a key role, while Kapil Dev’s cameo adds a natural touch.

Despite being helmed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the film struggles in execution. The screenplay lacks clarity, particularly in the first half, making it feel chaotic. A.R. Rahman’s music fails to leave an impact, and while some dialogues land well, the overall production values are average. The rural setting and cricket betting elements could have been better utilized.

If you're a Rajinikanth fan, his presence alone makes it worth a watch. The film blends sports, drama, and social issues, attempting to highlight village conflicts and religious harmony. While it may not match the expectations set after Jailer, it still offers an interesting premise for those who enjoy rural dramas with emotional depth.
