Unni Mukudan's latest release ' Malikappuram ' is creating a new history in the Malayalam film industry. After making too much expectations among audiences, the film was successfully running in the theaters. With stellar performances of star cast on big-screen, the film has received positive responses from audiences as well as critics. The success of film remarks, the young actor Unnimukundan's great come-back to the industry. After getting great welcome and record box collection from theaters, now the film makers are announced the date of its OTT release. This will surprises to many movies lovers among us, who have great interest to watch movies on digital platform.
After a long wait the film 'Malikapuram' was released in theatres on last year(Dec 30 2022) and as an action-adventure drama, it attracted to many movie buffs among us. It was declared as a smash hit on its opening day. As per the latest report, the film started streaming on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar from February 03, 2023.
Making too much curious among audiences, the film followed mysterious and action elements in its character representation. Written by Abhilash Pillai and directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar, the film features Unnimukundan in the lead role while Devinandha, Sreepath Manoj K Jayan, Saiju Kurup, Renji Panicker and T. G. Ravi were seen in key roles.
Produced by Neeta Pinto and Priya Venu under the banners Ann Mega Media Release and Kavya Films, the film 'Malikappuram' marks directorial debut of Vishnu Sasi Shankar. Rajin Raj composed music for the film while the cinematograhy is handled by Vishnu Narayanan.
The film which tells the story of a young girl, Kalyani who had a wish to visit the Sabarimala temple to meet her dear lord Ayyappan. It also highlights the mythical and mysterious ideas in its character representation.
The teaser of the film was released on December 13. 2022. It received much appreciation from the audiences and crossed the number of over 3 million views. Directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar, the film was released in Malayalam on December 30, 2022. Later, the film makers released its dubbed version in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada on January 26.
Directed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar the film was made on a small budget of Rs 3.5 crores.
After releasing of 30 days, the film collected over Rs 100 crore at the box office. The film broken several records of Malayalam movies. Now it is considered as one of the highest-grossing films ever made in Malayalam film industry. The film also marked the third hit from Unni Mukundan after the movies ‘Meppadiyan’, and ‘Sheffeekkinte Santhosham’.
