Most Anticipated Malayalam Police Dramas Releasing in 2024

Directed by newcomer Darwin Kuriakose, the movie is an investigative thriller starring Tovino Thomas as Sub-inspector Anand Narayanan. Jinu V Abraham, the writer of the Prithviraj-starrer Kaduva, penned the script for this film. Produced on a modest budget, the project is a collaboration between Darwin and his twin brother Dolwin Kuriakose under their Theatre of Dreams banner. Alongside Tovino Thomas, the cast includes Siddique, Indrans, Shammy Thilakan, Baburaj, and Harisree Ashokan in supporting roles. According to reports, the film is set to hit theaters on February 9, 2024.

Thalavan is another highly anticipated cop drama, is set to grace the theaters this year. Starring Asif Ali and Biju Menon in pivotal roles, the filmmakers recently unveiled the second look poster for the movie. Directed by Jis Joy, both Biju Menon and Asif portray police officers in this investigative narrative that delves into the dynamics of hierarchy within a police station. Debutants Anand Thevarkatt and Sharath Perumbavoor crafted the story and screenplay, while Jis Joy penned the dialogues. The film also features Anusree, Miya George, Dileesh Pothan, Ranjith, Kottayam Nazeer, and Jaffer Idukki in significant roles.

Featuring Biju Menon and Shine Tom Chacko in the lead roles, 'Thundu' signifies Riyas Shereef's directorial debut. Billed as a police drama, the movie's script is a collaborative effort between the director and Kannappan. Ashiq Usman, alongside cinematographer turned producer Jimshi Khalid, produced the film under the banner of Ashiq Usman Productions. The musical score, composed by Gopi Sundar with lyrics written by Vinayak Sasikumar, adds to the film's allure. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 16, 2024.

Virunnu signifies the return of Tamil actor Arjun Sarja to the Malayalam film industry. This investigative thriller drama, directed by filmmaker Kannan Thamarakkulam and written by Dinesh Pallath, features Nikki Galrani in a prominent female lead role. Produced by Neyyar Films, the movie was initially scheduled for a September 2023 release but faced a postponement. According to recent reports, the film is expected to hit the screens this year.

As per recent updates, the creators have revealed the current status of pre-production activities for this film. Nivin Pauly is set to reprise his role as Sub-inspector Biju Paulose in the sequel, which is under the production of Pauly Jr Pictures. Directed by Abrid Shine, the movie serves as the follow-up to the 2016 film Action Hero Biju. If reports are to be believed, actor Joju George is also expected to play a significant character in the film.
