Bollywood’s OTT wave hit new highs in 2025, with blockbuster films drawing massive viewership across Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV, and ZEE5. From the slick heist thriller Jewel Thief on Netflix to the action-packed spectacle War 2 on JioHotstar, audiences flocked to streaming platforms for big-screen entertainment at home. These films not only trended online but also emerged as the most-viewed Bollywood movies of 2025, redefining digital success.
Netflix continues to dominate the OTT space with the most-viewed Indian content of 2025. Leading the charts is Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, starring Saif Ali Khan, which has emerged as the year’s biggest OTT blockbuster. Close behind is Dhoom Dhaam, an action-romantic comedy featuring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi, ranking second in overall viewership. Securing the third spot among original OTT films is Nadaaniyan, marking Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut alongside Khushi Kapoor.
Amazon Prime Video leaned strongly into franchise sequels and genre variety in 2025. Superboys of Malegaon, a critically acclaimed satirical comedy, found massive viewership on streaming after its theatrical run. The platform also scored with Thamma, a horror-comedy from the Maddock Horror Universe starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, while Baaghi 4, led by Tiger Shroff, emerged as one of the most-trending action titles following its October release.
Following its merger and rebranding, the platform witnessed a surge in viewership for action and spy thrillers. Sarzameen, an original film starring Ibrahim Ali Khan as an army officer in Kashmir, opened to massive streaming numbers. Meanwhile, War 2, after a successful theatrical run, shattered viewership records upon its digital premiere, becoming one of the platform’s biggest hits of the year.
ZEE5’s 2025 lineup focused on gritty crime dramas and emotionally driven narratives. Kaalidhar Laapata, starring Abhishek Bachchan, remained in the top 10 for weeks after its July release, while Saali Mohabbat, featuring Radhika Apte and Anurag Kashyap, impressed with its tense, suspenseful storytelling. The platform also extended its crime-thriller success with Rangbaaz: The Bihar Chapter, reinforcing ZEE5’s stronghold in political and crime-driven content.
Sony LIV continued to be the go-to platform for critically acclaimed, rooted storytelling. The Mehta Boys, a moving father–son drama starring Naseeruddin Shah and Avinash Tiwary, earned widespread praise, while Kankhajura, a psychological thriller led by Mohit Raina and Roshan Mathew, gained strong viewership through positive word-of-mouth. Meanwhile, Chamak – The Conclusion emerged as one of Sony LIV’s most-watched titles in the first half of 2025, successfully wrapping up the popular musical thriller series.
