Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy originally premiered on November 11, 2022, and is available to stream online on ZEE5. The gripping espionage thriller, which spans eight episodes, will now also be released in a film format on the same platform starting July 10, 2026, giving audiences a new way to experience the story.

Based on Maloy Krishna Dhar’s novel Mission to Pakistan: An Intelligence Agent in Pakistan, the story is set in the 1960s in the aftermath of the Sino-Indian War, when India was left economically and militarily vulnerable. Anticipating further threats from Pakistan, Indian intelligence adopts an unconventional strategy by recruiting a young Kashmiri conman, Harfan (played by Zain Khan Durrani), as an undercover agent. Posing as a child separated during Partition, Harfan infiltrates Lahore, wins the trust of a local family, and gradually gains access to influential military circles. As he navigates a web of deception, he risks his life to gather crucial intelligence on operations like Gibraltar and Grand Slam, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding India’s interests.
