Ramayana Teaser Out: Ranbir Kapoor Impresses as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s Epic Saga

The upcoming Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, planned as a grand two-part epic. After a long wait, the first installment is set to release this Diwali. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, promising a visually grand and powerful retelling of the epic.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal and Chhichhore, Ramayana is backed by producers Namit Malhotra and Yash. The film’s music is a powerful collaboration between Oscar winners A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, while VFX is handled by the global studio DNEG, promising a grand IMAX-scale cinematic experience. The ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, alongside Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, and Amitabh Bachchan in a reported narration role.

The teaser offers a glimpse of high-octane action, adventure, and grand battle sequences, featuring humans, monsters, and visually spectacular fight scenes. It showcases different phases of Lord Rama’s journey, as a warrior and as a king in his regal form, capturing key moments from his life. Spanning 2 minutes and 38 seconds, the preview takes viewers through Ayodhya, his exile, and intense encounters with giants and demons, building excitement for the epic narrative.

The first installment of Ramayana is scheduled to hit theatres on Diwali 2026 (November 6, 2026), marking a grand festive release. The makers are planning a two-part epic, with the second installment set to arrive on Diwali 2027. With back-to-back festive releases, the film aims to deliver a масштаб cinematic experience across both parts.

Ramayana, co-produced by Namit Malhotra, is reportedly mounted on a massive budget of around ₹4,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever. A three-minute preview of Nitesh Tiwari’s epic was first unveiled on July 3, 2025, with a special teaser titled Rama set for a grand global release on Hanuman Jayanti 2026. The film has already generated strong buzz, with its early preview in Los Angeles receiving praise for its scale and emotional depth.
