Sony LIV's Master Plan Behind Spider Man: No Way Home's OTT Streaming

The 2021 superhero movie Spider-Man: No Way Home is the follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). It is also the 27th chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The vision and script for the movie were written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, and Jon Watts directed it with Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Benedict Cumberbatch playing the primary characters. Jamie Foxx, a former villain on Spider-Man, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and other villains had a rivalry with Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire.

Spider Man: No Way Home earned an overall net earnings of $610 million after all additional expenditures, including development and advertising expenses; this made it Sony's most successful film ever. As of 2022, this places it as the sixth-most profitable movie ever made in the world.

Peter Parker's identity has been made public, so he is seeking Dr. Strange's assistance (Benedict Cumberbatch) in fixing that. This escalates the danger as all of the previous Spider-Man villains like Electro, Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin, Sandman, and Lizard arrive in his universe. The former Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will travel from another dimension to battle all other villains. The audience found it amazing how they managed to eradicate all of the villains and these three characters' screen presence in a single frame.

The official film distributor, Sony Pictures, revealed their streaming partner with several OTT platforms for rental, including Vudu, Book My Show, Aplle TV, YouTube, Google Play, Zee5, Tata Play, and Prime Video. Spider-Man: No Way Home was released in theatres on December 17, 2021. Then they had a streaming deal with Netflix and were charging about $40 million annually. Then, on June 11, 2023, Sony Pictures revealed their intention to quit streaming on Netflix and begin releasing content on their own platform, "Sony LIV," on June 13, 2023.
