Tehran on OTT: John Abraham’s Gripping Real-Life Spy Thriller Is Also Streaming on This Platform

Tehran follows ACP Rajeev Kumar (John Abraham), a Special Cell officer who goes undercover in Tehran but gets caught, leading India to abandon him. Now trapped in a dangerous web of political ambitions, espionage, and betrayal, he must fight to survive. The film also stars Neeru Bajwa as Sheilaja and Manushi Chhillar as SI Divya Rana.

Tehran features John Abraham in the lead as ACP Rajeev Kumar, a Special Cell officer caught in a high-stakes espionage game. Joining him are Manushi Chhillar as SI Divya Rana and Neeru Bajwa as Sheilaja, along with strong supporting performances. The film is directed by Arun Gopalan, written by Ritesh Shah, and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Shobhna Yadav, and Sandeep Leyzell under Maddock Films, with music composed by Samuel & Akanksha.

John Abraham’s real-life inspired espionage thriller Tehran premiered on ZEE5 on August 14 and received a positive response from the audience. Viewers praised its gripping storyline, intense action sequences, and John Abraham’s powerful performance as ACP Rajeev Kumar. 

Tehran, after its successful premiere on ZEE5, is now streaming on Netflix. Inspired by the events following the 2012 attacks on Delhi’s Parliament House, the film aims to captivate a global audience through its gripping espionage drama. The big question now: Can John Abraham’s thriller attract viewers across 190 countries?

John Abraham admitted he felt “disheartened” but explained why theaters avoided the controversial film. When asked if it was discouraging for an actor to see a project like Tehran, backed by a big banner like Maddock Films and initially promised a theatrical release, ending up debuting on OTT instead, John told Bollywood Hungama that it certainly is.
