Who Is Vir Hirani? The Actor Playing Pritam Alongside Arshad Warsi in Pritam & Pedro

Vir Hirani is an Indian actor, director, and screenwriter who rose to prominence with his lead role in JioHotstar’s 2026 comedy-crime series Pritam & Pedro. Born in Mumbai, he comes from a well-known family, being the son of acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and Air India pilot Manjeet Hirani. 

Born in Mumbai, Vir Hirani grew up in a cinematic environment as the son of renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. He later moved to London to pursue formal training in theatre arts, dedicating five to six years to honing his craft. During this time, he completed his acting course at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2023 with a BA in Acting (H Level), one of the most rigorous programs globally. While in the UK, he also gained valuable experience by actively participating in several college and professional theatre productions. 

Vir Hirani made his first on-screen appearance as a child artist in the 2003 cult classic Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., directed by his father Rajkumar Hirani. In a brief yet memorable cameo, he played the young son of the beloved character Circuit, portrayed by Arshad Warsi, earning the affectionate nickname “Short Circuit.” He appeared in the film’s closing moments during a heartwarming family photo sequence, marking his very first brush with the silver screen. 

Vir Hirani began his journey in the industry with a small cameo as a child artist in his father’s film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003), where he briefly appeared as Circuit’s son, played by Arshad Warsi. Beyond acting, he showed an early passion for filmmaking, writing and directing a short film, Return Gift, at just 14, which was showcased at the International Children’s Film Festival of India. He later worked behind the scenes as a cinematographer and assistant director on projects including Sanju (2018).

Vir Hirani made his official mainstream debut with Pritam & Pedro (2026), where he played the titular tech genius Pritam Parker alongside Arshad Warsi and Vikrant Massey. Despite his father being associated with the project, Vir secured the role after clearing multiple independent audition rounds, earning praise for his sharp comedic timing and portrayal of a skilled hacker aiding the cybercrime division. Expanding his journey to films, he is now set to make his big-screen debut with Lagan Laagi Re, directed by Sonali Rattan Deshmukh, where he stars opposite Rasha Thadani.
