Prakash Jha Elated Over Satyagraha Collection At Box Office

Prakash Jha's Satyagraha, which opened to rave reviews, has surpassed Rs 50 crore mark at the Indian Box Office in six days of its release. The maker of the Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareer Kapoor starrer, says he is delighted and humbled with the response to his much-talked about political thriller.

Talking to IANS, filmmaker Prakash Jha gushed about the huge success of the film. He said, "Satyagraha is a film for the people and of the people of the country. The audiences have given us their acceptance and love. I'm happy that for a film like Satyagraha, we are reaching these milestones and the film is growing from strength to strength."


Released in 2500 screens on August 30, Satyagraha opened to an overwhelming response and collected Rs 39.12 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. On the weekdays, the film maintained rock-steady and added Rs 12.8 crores to its six-day domestic total Rs 51.92 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 11.21 cr on Fri, Rs 13.08 cr on Sat, Rs 14.83 cr on Sun, Rs 5.07 cr on Mon, Rs 4.11 cr on Tue and Rs 3.62 cr on Wed.

Satyagraha, which has been made with whopping budget of Rs 50 crores, has already recovered its production cost in its theatrical run for six days and whatever it earns in the coming days would be its benefit. Will the film cross Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic market? Only, time will answer this question.
