Ram Gopal Varma's Department is yet another disappointment for the viewers. Department is a gripping action drama, narrating a terrifying power struggle story. Though the movie has big star casts like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, yet it fails to impress us.

Story: The Government forms a new entity called "Department" to finish the underworld by stepping over the law's boundaries. The first half of the film is no less than a crap, where Inspector Mahadev Bhosle (Sanjay Dutt), the boss of Mumbai's Department and Rana Daggubati (Shiv), goes on killing bunch of underworld goons. While these hard-hitting actions goes on, the first half desperately makes you wait for Amitabh Bachchan's (gangster-turned-politician) entry. Surprisingly, even after the Big B pops up with his larger than life screen persona, he fails to save RGV's last attempt. While the raw action is on, Daggubati comes across a shocking truth about his bro-like Sanjay Dutt. What's that? Watch out to learn the hidden truth.

Response: Department is all about hard kicks and punches. Though the film promises the viewers with raw action, at times it gets over dosed and looks pointless. RGV's obsession with the camera is evident in the film. The tight close-ups and minute-detailed scenes of violence is a continuous distraction and mindless. In short, the camerawork throughout the film are all an assault to the eyes. The film lacks a good scripts and too many sub-plots adds confusion to it. The dialogues are mindless due to poor direction.
