Sanjay Dutt-Raj Kundra launch martial arts league SFL

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and Shilpa Shetty's husband, businessman Raj Kundra have officially launched a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting league called 'Super Fight League' (SFL) in Mumbai on Monday. The first SFL event will be held in Mumbai on March 11, followed by Chandigarh (April 7) and New Delhi (May 6).

Each fight night will have a minimum of seven fights comprising 36 different styles of fighting including karate, judo and kung-fu. The organisers said that the fight would be followed by a Bollywood celebrity act and an after party for VIP ticket holders.

Six Indian fighters in various weight categories will take on six MMA fighters at the first fight event in Mumbai. The main event on the occasion will be a super heavy duel between UK's James Thompson and Bob Sapp of US. Talking about the event, Sanjay Dutt confirmed that the fights in the league would be real and not staged.

However, the MMA industry is valued at $2 billion in America alone. Raj Kundra described that it is the fastest growing sport. "The revenue would be through advertising and sponsorship-based funding. We have link-ups with various websites and also TV deals. We would make an announcement shortly," PTI quotes him as saying.
