Dilip
Kumar
was
admitted
to
the
Lilavati
hospital
today
evening
(September
15),
after
he
had
a
mild
heart
attack.
At
around
9
pm,
actor
Dilip
Kumar
was
taken
to
intensive
care
unit
(ICU)
of
Lilavati
Hospital
in
Bandra
West.
The
actor's
manager
told
IANS,
"He
was
feeling
uncomfortable
today
evening
so
we
got
him
to
Lilavati
hospital.
Now
his
routine
check
up
is
going
on.
We
will
be
able
to
talk
only
tomorrow
morning,
but
he
is
fine."
"Dilip
Kumar
has
been
admitted
to
our
hospital,
he
is
in
the
intensive
care
unit
(ICU)
and
his
condition
is
stable," Lilavati
Hospital
spokesperson
Dr
Naresh
Trivedi
was
quoted
as
saying.
Dilip
Kumar,
famously
known
as
Tragedy
King,
was
born
on
December
11,
1922,
in
Peshawar
(Pakistan).
He
debuted
as
an
actor
in
the
movie
Jwar
Bhata
(1944),
which
was
produced
by
Bombay
Talkies.
His
career
has
spanned
six
decades
and
over
60
films.
He
is
the
first
actor
to
receive
a
Filmfare
Best
Actor
Award
(1954).
The
other
superstar
with
whom
he
shares
the
record
for
the
most
number
of
Filmfare
awards
won
(eight
awards)
for
that
category
is
Shahrukh
Khan.
For
his
contribution
to
the
Indian
cinema,
Dilip
was
awarded
the
Padma
Bhushan
(1991)
and
the
Dadasaheb
Phalke
Award
(1994).
He
was
also
nominated
to
Rajya
Sabha
for
a
term
from
2000
to
2006.
Dilip
is
married
to
actress
beauty
queen
Saira
Banu.
