who
was
arrested
on
Saturday
(August
31,
2013)
for
allegedly
beating
up
his
wife,
was
later
released
by
the
cops
on
bail.
Reportedly,
Puri
was
arrested
after
he
surrendered
before
the
police.
The
arrest
took
place,
after
his
wife
Nandita
filed
a
case
against
the
actor,
for
hitting
her
with
a
stick
over
an
argument,
that
took
place
between
the
duo
last
week.
A
police
officer
reportedly
told
a
leading
daily
that
Om
Puri
and
his
wife
Nandita
fought
over
their
flat
maintenance,
following
which
Puri
hit
her
with
"a
wooden
stick
in
their
Versova
residence".
According
to
the
daily,
the
actor
got
booked
under
IPC
sections
324
(voluntarily
causing
hurt
by
dangerous
weapons
or
means),
506
(criminal
intimidation)
and
504
(intentional
insult
to
provoke
breach
of
the
peace).
As
per
the
recent
reports,
Om
Puri
was
granted
bail
today
(September
1,
2013)
on
a
bond
of
Rs.
10,000.
Reportedly,
earlier
on
Saturday,
the
sessions
court
disposed
of
the
anticipatory
bail
application
filed
by
Mr
Puri,
as
his
lawyer
told
the
court
that
the
actor
wanted
to
withdraw
the
plea.
