Koffee With Karan 8: Ranveer Singh Admits He Recommended Deepika For Ram-Leela After Kareena Kapoor’s Exit
Koffee With Karan 8 First Episode: Karan Joahr is back with his highly controversial chat show Koffee With Karan's season 8 on Hotstar. We can call the first episode 'dhamakedar' as Bollywood power couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone made their blockbuster debut together on the show after their marriage.
Both stars are a perfect combination of fire and ice and have already set higher benchmarks as they graced the iconic couch and went candid about their marriage and love. Ranveer Singh made some interesting revelations, one of which involves an anecdote relating to Ram Leela.
Ranveer Singh reveals Deepika was not the first choice for Ram Leela
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone marked their first joint appearance on any chat show. During the fun-filled interaction, when the host asked Ranveer if he walked into Ram-Leela with the intention of impressing Deepika, the actor firmly responded by saying 'no.'
He then revealed that Deepika was not the first choice for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film. "Ram-Leela was supposed to happen with myself and Kareena Kapoor in the lead. The set was ready. One week before roll, for some reason, Kareena had to exit the film," Ranveer told Karan.
Ranveer further admitted that he was the one who recommended Deepika's name to Bhansali and his team after she saw her performance in Cocktail, which was released at that time.
"Then we were sitting and wondering who to cast. And Cocktail had just happened (released). So there was a discussion with Mr Bhansali, all the ADs and myself in the office, about who should we take. And I was batting for team Deepika, because I just saw Cocktail, and she got cast," he added.
Earlier, Kareena had missed the opportunity to work with SLB in Devdas. She had once slammed the filmmaker for removing her from the period movie. Kareena was supposed to play Paro in Devdas but was suddenly replaced by Aishwarya Rai, despite getting the paycheck.
Talking about Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, the romance drama movie that was released in 2013 was DeepVeer's first superhit film together and where their love blossomed.
