Ritu
Shivpuri:
The
world
of
showbiz
is
unpredictable.
Many,
despite
having
a
successful
start
in
cinema,
fail
to
hold
on
to
the
success,
whereas
several
rising
stars
disappear
in
the
sea
where
everybody
is
thriving
to
achieve
more
than
others.
There
have
been
several
actors
who
got
instant
fame
overnight
but
couldn't
succeed
in
making
a
name
for
themselves
in
the
film
industry.
You
can
find
many
examples
of
actors
who
were
loved
by
audiences
from
their
very
first
film
but
slowly
vanished
from
the
limelight.
One
such
actress
is
Ritu
Shivpuri,
who
made
a
wonderful
career
in
Bollywood
but
left
films
gradually.
BOLLYWOOD
CAREER
Ritu
Shivpuri
made
her
Bollywood
debut
opposite
Govinda
in
the
1993
superhit
movie
Aankhen.
The
comedy
film
is
still
one
of
the
most
remarkable
films
made
in
Bollywood.
Besides
Govinda
and
Ritu,
Aankhen
also
starred
Chunky
Pandey,
Ritu
Shivpuri,
Rageshwari,
Shilpa
Shirodkar,
and
Kader
Khan,
among
others.
Ritu
shot
to
fame
after
Aankhen
was
released.
While
the
song
Dal
Dupatte
Wali,
which
featured
Ritu,
Rajeshwari,
Govinda,
and
Chunky,
made
Shivpuri
popular
overnight.
Many
remember
the
actress
only
through
this
song.
After
the
movie,
Ritu
went
on
to
act
in
several
movies.
Aar
Ya
Paar,
Hum
Sab
Chor
Hain,
Bhai
Bhai,
Kala
Samrajya,
Lajja,
Shakti-The
Power,
Elaan,
and
Ek
Jind
Ik
Jaan,
Rock
Dancer,
Glamour
Girl,
Had
Kar
Di
Aapne,
and
others.
Ritu
was
born
on
January
22,
1972,
in
Mumbai,
to
late
veteran
actors
Om
Shivpuri
and
Sudha
Shivpuri.
Having
been
born
into
a
film
family,
Ritu
always
had
an
inclination
to
make
it
big
in
films.
She
began
her
career
in
showbiz
as
a
model,
and
it
was
Pahlaj
Nihalani
who
spotted
her
during
an
event
and
offered
her
the
film
Aankhen.
She
was
only
17
years
old
when
the
film
was
released.
Though
Ritu
had
gotten
plenty
of
offers
after
her
first
hit
movie,
her
later
films
failed
at
the
box-
office,
and
she
turned
to
the
south
film
industry.
BREAK
FROM
ACTING
After
working
in
a
few
movies
down
south,
Ritu
Shivpuri
again
could
not
get
the
success
that
she
hoped
for.
But
then
she
decided
to
quit
acting
altogether.
The
reason
behind
her
absence
was
said
to
be
her
husband's,
Hari
Venkat's,
illness.
Hari
and
Ritu
have
three
children
together,
and
it
was
reported
that
Ritu's
husband
was
diagnosed
with
a
tumour
back
then.
Therefore,
Ritu
chose
her
family
over
her
career.
Ritu
Shivpuri
made
her
comeback
to
the
entertainment
industry
after
her
husband
recovered
from
his
illness.
In
2016,
with
Anil
Kapoor's
series
24.
Meanwhile,
she
continued
with
acting
again
and
turned
to
the
small
screen,
making
a
successful
debut
in
television.
She
acted
in
several
tv
serials,
like
Iss
Pyaar
Ko
Kya
Naam
Doon,
Nazar,
and
Vish.
Ritu
is
also
a
popular
jewellery
designer.
