to
be
based
on
a
true-life
story.
The
DreamWorks
film
revolves
around
musical
genius
Nathaniel
Ayers,
who
developed
schizophrenia
in
his
second
year
at
Juilliard,
Variety
magazine
reports.
He
became
homeless
and
ended
up
on
downtown
L.A.
streets
performing
violin
and
cello.
The
drama
focuses
on
Ayers'
relationship
with
a
Los
Angeles
Times
reporter,
Steve
Lopez.
It
seems
that
Foxx
is
all
set
to
do
his
role
to
perfection,
for
the
Oscar
wining
actor,
a
classically
trained
pianist,
is
being
taught
stringed
instruments
by
a
cellist
with
the
Los
Angeles
Philharmonic,
an
entity
that
figures
in
the
plot
of
the
film.
The
film's
script
has
been
written
by
Susannah
Grant
based
on
the
information
from
Lopez's
columns.
Lopez
even
penned
down
a
book
on
Ayers,
which
will
be
publish
by
Putnam.
The
film
will
begin
shooting
in
January,
mostly
in
Los
Angeles.
It
is
being
produced
by
Gary
Foster
and
Russ
Krasnoff
through
their
Krasnoff/Foster
banner.
Rikki
Bestall
is
co-producing
and
Tim
Bevan
is
the
executive
producer.
