Washington (ANI): Actor Jamie Foxx is set to star in upcoming flick The Soloist, to be based on a true-life story.

The DreamWorks film revolves around musical genius Nathaniel Ayers, who developed schizophrenia in his second year at Juilliard, Variety magazine reports. He became homeless and ended up on downtown L.A. streets performing violin and cello. The drama focuses on Ayers' relationship with a Los Angeles Times reporter, Steve Lopez.

It seems that Foxx is all set to do his role to perfection, for the Oscar wining actor, a classically trained pianist, is being taught stringed instruments by a cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, an entity that figures in the plot of the film.

The film's script has been written by Susannah Grant based on the information from Lopez's columns. Lopez even penned down a book on Ayers, which will be publish by Putnam. The film will begin shooting in January, mostly in Los Angeles. It is being produced by Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff through their Krasnoff/Foster banner. Rikki Bestall is co-producing and Tim Bevan is the executive producer.
