Catherine
Zeta-Jones
has
joined
the
cast
of
musical
movie
Rock
of
Ages.
It
was
reported
earlier
that
she
was
suffering
from
Bipolar
II
disorder,
which
forced
her
to
check
into
a
treatment
centre.
Now,
the
Welsh
actress
has
checked
out
of
rehab
to
star
in
the
movie.
According
to
sources,
Zeta
Jones
would
play
the
villainous,
ultra-conservative
Mayor's
wife
in
the
film,
which
is
an
adaptation
of
the
Broadway
show.
Talking
to
the
EW,
director
Adam
Shankman
has
confirmed
the
casting
of
Catherine
Zeta-Jones
for
Rock
of
Ages.
The
director
says,
"I
think
she's
seeing
this
as
a
wonderful
homecoming
for
her.
It
(movie
musical)
puts
her
in
an
incredible
comfort
zone.
The
truth
of
the
matter
is,
I'm
working
with
a
lot
of
the
same
people
that
she
worked
with
on
Chicago,
so
she's
going
to
be
returning
to
a
real
family
situation."
Adam
Shankman
has
all
praise
for
the
Oscar
winner
actress
and
he
can
not
wait
to
work
with
her.
"There's
a
group
of
people
that
are
there
literally
just
to
kind
of
be
with
her
and
support
her.
And,
having
rehearsed
with
her,
she's
so
happy
and
at
home
in
the
rehearsal
room,
and
when
you
put
that
quarter
in
her
and
turn
her
on
to
sing
and
dance,
it's
just
magic," the
EW
quotes
him
as
saying.
However,
Catherine
Zeta-Jones
will
work
with
Russell
Brand,
Tom
Cruise,
Mary
J.
Blige,
Alec
Baldwin
and
Julianne
Hough
in
Rock
of
Ages.
The
movie
will
start
shooting
from
May
2011
and
is
expected
to
release
in
theatres
on
June
1,
2012.
