James Cameron's ambitious project Avatar 2's release is only nine months away. While very little detail about the plot and casting has been released, reports have revealed that the film's trailer will be out with MCU's Doctor Strange 2.
Doctor Strange 2 has been one of the most anticipated summer releases, but if the reports are to be believed, fans are more excited for the film to hit the big screen. According to Screenrant, Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to release on May 6, which will set the trailer launch- seven months before the film's release.
The news first came out when The Ankler's Jeff Sneider reported that Disney is planning to debut the first trailer for James Cameron's Avatar 2 in front of the May 6, 2022, theatrical release of Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Since both franchises are owned by Disney, it does seem likely that the trailer or a long teaser could be attached to the theatrical release of Doctor Strange 2. The MCU film will see Steven Strange teaming up with Wanda Maximoff as monsters and villains from the multiverse spill over into the world.
Apart from Benedict Cumberbatch, the film will also see Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as Wanda. Benedict Wong will also be returning as Wong, alongside Rachel McAdams as Dr Christine Palmer and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo.
Meanwhile, Avatar 2 will mark the return of original stars Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana. Actors Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis are the additional cast to the Avatar sequels. The makers time and again have hinted that the audience is not ready for what the filmmaker has to offer.
Recently, Zoe Saldana said that she was moved to tears by Avatar 2's 20-minute footage. She said, "I think you really have to brace yourself for it, but it's going to be an adventure that you will not forget."
The film is set to take place 12 years after the events of the first movie and will follow Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as he roams the planet of Pandora with the new family he has with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Stills from behind the scenes released in 2021 revealed the cast filming mainly underwater scenes, confirming part of the plot.
Doctor Strange 2 and Avatar 2 are two of the biggest Disney releases of the year2022.
