for
the
Best
Film
in
the
Osian's
Cinefan
a
festival
of
Asian
and
Arab
films
on
Saturday
in
New
Delhi.
Adding
to
the
glory
of
Kannada
cinema,
actress
Umashri
was
judged
the
Best
Actress
for
her
performance
in
the
same
film.
Gulabi
Talkies
is
based
on
the
short
story
by
Vaidehi,
it
focuses
on
the
effects
of
globalization
on
an
island
populated
by
fishermen.
The
script
is
by
Kasaravalli,
who
also
teamed
up
with
Vaidehi
for
the
dialogues.
The
festival's
competitive
section
has
four
categories
Asia-Arab
films,
Indian
films,
First
Features
and
Intolerance.
Gulabi
Talkies
won
the
award
in
the
section
for
Indian
Films.
Speaking
to
the
media
after
receiving
the
award,
Kasaravalli
said
he
is
immensely
pleased
at
the
international
recognition
that
the
film
received.
Earlier,
Kasaravalli
was
presented
with
a
Special
Jury
Award
at
the
2006
Osian's
Cinefan
for
his
film
Naayi
Neralu.
