Shivaramanna, who has had a career spanning over five decades, addressed that the Sandalwood Film Institute objectives were to ensure that those who pass out from this institute in four months crash course get full preparation to cinema or television acting. Shivaramanna expressed that he was proud to be the principal of the institute and that he would put in full effort to guide it well. After scrutinizing the various weaknesses of film-making today, Shivaramanna would like to come up with solutions. He has come up with a training session even for the assistant directors.
The Sandalwood Film Institute will conduct theory classes as well as give practice in acting and direction. The teaching faculty includes Dr RT Rama, Walter D Souza, Joe Simon, Geetha Priya, Kodlu Ramakrishna, HR Bhargava, PH Vishwanath, Bhasker, HG Somashekar Rao, Madan Harini, Kaurava Venkatesh, NK Ramakrishna, Basavaraj Urs, V Manohar, BKS Verma, AM Prakash and Dr Omkar.
Dr Girish Kasaravalli, Dr B Saroja Devi, Ramesh Aravind, Rajya Sabha Member and theatre personality B Jayasri are part of the advisory board.
The Sandalwood Film Institute was inaugurated by veteran Master Hirannaiah at Hampi Nagar near Vijayanagar in Bangalore on Wednesday morning. The institute will be headed by Shivaramanna and the teaching faculty at the institute promise to have a lot of expertise. Smt. Prafulla Mukhi Srinivas from the US, Pradip Mahishi, Smt Meenakumari and Jayaprakash have invested on it.
