Munirathna's aggressive promotion seems to have struck gold for his
Surasundarangi, as the mega-budget film is rocking at the
Sandalwood Box Office. The movie, which was released on May 10, has
raked in more than Rs 5 crore in the opening weekend.
An unconfirmed source has revealed that Katari Veera
Surasundarangi has approximately collected Rs 5.70 crore in
the opening week (Excluding Sunday collection). Despite getting
criticism for the weak storyline, the 3D factor seems to be
attracting the audience. Multiplexes and single screens witnessed
an average of 80% occupancy per show in the first three days,
claims the source.
Katari Veera Surasundarangi is made with the budget of
Rs 12 crore and the production cost is expected to recover by
second week. However, distributor Rockline Venkatesh has said that
they are planning to release the film outside the state and abroad
by this month end.
The movie features Upendra, Ramya, Ambareesh, Dodanna and Muthappa Rai in
the important roles. The film directed by Suresh Krishna is
produced by Munirathna.
