Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar is celebrating his birthday today. Let's have a look at five best performances in the actor's career.
In & As Appu
This was Puneeth's debut film but his splendid performance, dances, fights in the film proved that he was here to stay on his own merit and not because of his legendary father's name.
Any debutant hero in Kannada film industry would try to reach the standards set by Puneeth with his debut film. We can safely say, not many have managed to deliver at least half of what Puneeth was able to do in Appu.
In Milana As Aakash
Milana was a different film then for Appu, who was mostly known for his mass image and commercial entertainers. The film just had few fight sequences and Puneeth selecting such script was itself the biggest gamble.
Puneeth impressed the audiences with his subtle performance and he was successful in getting his loyalty base in family audience increased with this film. This was the first film to run for more than a year in PVR Cinemas, Bangalore and it had equally good run in single screens.
In & As Jackie
The film marked joining hands of two magicians Puneeth and Suri for the first time. Audience had huge expectations on this film and crazy combo of Suri - Appu managed to exceed it with a fantastic commercial entertainer.
Puneeth was fantastic in dances and fights along with the powerful performance as Janakirama aka Jackie. The film had fantastic run at box office and can easily be termed as biggest hit of Puneeth in his illustrious career of 15 years.
In Prithvi As Prithvi Kumar
Power Star Puneeth's performance as IAS officer Prithvi Kumar, was noteworthy. Many youngsters inspired by the character took up the public service exams. Such was the impact of this special film and role.
Puneeth again surprised and impressed with the selection of the script. The film did not have many commercial elements but had a good message for the society. The film is still counted as one of the best of Appu for its impact on the society.
In Yaare Koogadali As Kumara
This film was a remake of Tamil film, Poraali, and the role had ample scope for performance. Puneeth did not miss this chance of proving what a good performer he is.
The film had a couple of variations in Appu's role and Appu portrayed both the variations/roles effortlessly. Even though the film did not do much commercially, film stands as testimony for Puneeth's capability as a performer.
Apart from the above films, Puneeth has delivered his best in films like Paramathma, Mythri but we feel these are the five best films of Power Star for its own reasons. Once again, we wish Happy Birthday to Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar.
