Puneeth Rajkumar began his career as a child artist with the award-winning movies Bhakta Prahlada and Bettada Hoovu. But before he became a superstar, Puneet was a budding hero who met his ladylove Ashwini back in 1996 at a gym through common friends. Ashwini was an English literature student, and after two years of courtship, they got married in 1999. Meanwhile, it was said that after being friends for eight months, Puneet proposed to Ashwini, and she quickly agreed to his love proposal as she was also in love with him. It's interesting, as Puneeth was a fitness freak, and he never missed working out at the gym. And he met his love and life partner at his favourite palace.
In an old interview from 2010, speaking about Puneet Rajkumar, Ashwini had told TOI, "I liked his simplicity and helpful nature. He trusts people easily. He loves to travel and likes good friends." Puneeth, who was also a part of the interview, called his wife his first critic.
