1921 Puzha Muthal Puzha Vare

1921 Puzha Muthal Puzha Vare is a Malayalam historical drama, directed and written by Ramsimham. The film stars Joy  Mathew and Thalaivasal Vijay in lead role. Apart from Thalaivasal Vijay, actors Narayanan Nair, Dinesh Panicker, R.L.V.Ramakrishnan, Shobhi Thilakan , Santhosh Saras plays in pivotal roles. Produced by the director himself, Prajeesh Kannur, Sunil Kannur and Binu.S.Nair handled cinematography for the film.Jagathlal Chandrasekhar and Hari Venu Gopal collaboratively composed music and editing is done by Ramasimham. Plot The film which depicts the life of Variyan Kunnath Kunjhahammad Haji, who led  the Moplah uprising against the British in Kerala's Malabar region. Actor Thalaivasal Vijay plays the role of Variyan Kunnath Kunjhahammad Haji. Release Date The film released in theatres on March 3, 2023. Controversy The film made headlines after the release of its first poster. Later, RSS functionary J Nandakumar alleged that the censor committee of Kerala had denied a certificate to the film on last year. He took twitter and captioned “Left-Jihadi Censor Committee in Kerala denies censor certificate for Ali Akbar film ‘Puzha mutual Puzha Vare’ (River to River) exposing the truth of Mappila (Moplah) riots.”  He also tagged Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur in his post.   On Decemeber 2022, the director of the film Ali Akbar announced  that he was converted into Hinduism.He declared this on Facebook along with the statement that he and his family would no longer practice any religion. On February 25, 2023  the film received an A certificate from the Censor Board. BJP Kerala State president K. Surendran shared a Facebook post and he announced the release date of the film. User Response The film received a mixed response on social media platforms. While some people were appreciated after watching the movie, other called it unbearable. The IMDb has given the rating 5.6/10 for the film.
