Malayalam actress Swarna Thomas injured after falling off from balcony

Kochi: Young Malayalam actress Swarna Thomas suffered multiple injuries after she fell down from the balcony of her fourth-floor apartment here. The 18-year old actress is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital for spine and pelvic fractures and live contusion, hospital sources said.

Swarna fell from the balcony on Wednesday night and was in the Neuro ICU. The actress, recovering from fever in the past few days, was with her mother at the flat when the incident occurred. According to family sources, Swarna felt dizzy and fell off from the balcony. The doctors say that she suffered fractures on her pelvis and spine. She is conscious and out of danger. Police say that they have not yet registered a case in connection with the incident.

"Only Swarna and her mother were at home then. The girl had fever. They were having tea and watching a TV programme on her film. Her mother did not notice Swarna going to the balcony. It was only when a girl from downstairs came up and told her that Swarna had fallen down that she came to know about the accident," the Deccan Chronicle quotes one of her relative as saying.

The relative added, "The floor was also wet on the balcony. She fell unconscious after a few minutes. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and later to the Medical Trust Hospital."
