This year's Onam witnessed five movie releases - Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus, D Company, Ezhamathe Varavu, Sringara Velan and North 24 Kaatham. Of the five, Sringara Velan has become the winner. The movie, starring Dileep and Vedhika in the lead, is a complete comedy entertainer.
Sringara Velan had Dileep playing the role of a weaver's son, whose ambition is to become very rich and accumulate as much wealth as possible. Though he tries many different ways to make money, he fails. The various characters in the film gets into all sorts of problems and the way in which they free themselves out of all these problems form the crux of the plot.
Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus had Mammootty playing the role of a theater artist Cleetus. He was originally a goonda, but circumstances makes him to do the role of Jersus Christ in one of the drama. But later tghis role influence th elife of Cleetus and his surroundings.
D Company was an anthology of three features directed by three directors - M Padmakumar, Diphan and Vinod Vijayan. Oru Bolivian Diary 1995, Gangs of Vadakkumnathan and Day Of Judgement were the three features. Asif Ali, Narain, Ananya, Anoop Menon, Jayasurya, Bhama, Fahad Fazil and Tanushree Ghosh played the lead roles in this film.
Ezhamathe Varavu marked the reunion of MT Vasudevan and Hariharan after 14 years. Indrajith, Bhavana and Vineeth played the lead roles in this film. The movie had its story in the backdrop of a forest.
North 24 Kaatham starring Fahad Fazil and Swati Reddy in the lead, is more like a travelogue. It tells the story of three people, how they unite for a comon cause to achieve a goal.
