Director Major Ravi, who is on a high with the
success of his recently released movie Picket 43,
turns actor again. As per the latest reports, Major Ravi will play
the central character in the upcoming movie Amarakkaran,
directed by newcomer Simon.
Major Ravi made his acting debut with Mammootty-Dileep starrer
Megham, upon the insistence of director Priyadarshan. The
director appeared in the role of Mammootty's friend in the movie.
Major has later appeared in the popular movies Aalavandhan,
Pattalam, Mission 90 Days etc.
The director has been receiving acting offers from popular
directors since last few years; but was reluctant to pursue a
full-fledged acting career. Major Ravi tasted back-to-back failures
with his movies Mission 90 Days, Kurukshetra, Kandahar and
Karmayodha; but grabbed critical and
commercial success with Picket 43.
Amarakkaran is a movie based on the life of popular
social activist PA Muhammed, who rose to fame with his projects to
support homeless people and cancer patients, in the past fifty
years. If the reports are to believed, Major Ravi is acting in the
movie without remuneration.
