The last week had been extremely eventful when it comes to Malayalam cinema industry. National Film Awards were  announced, two highly anticipated projects hit the theatres, and some important events including some official movie announcements, happened in the last week of March (23-39).

National Film Awards Announced

The 62nd National Film Awards were announced. Malayalam cinema industry bagged 5 awards including the categories Best Film on Environmental Preservation And Conservation (Ottal), Special Mention in Best Actor category (actor Musthaffa), Best Screenplay (Joshy Mangalath), Best Background Score (Gopi Sundar) and Best Malayalam Feature Film (Ain).

Ennum Eppozhum And Oru Vadakkan Selfie Released

Ennum Eppozhum, the Mohanlal-Manju Warrier starrer movie directed by Sathyan Anthikad has finally hit the theatres. The movie is penned by Raveendran and Ranjan Abraham. Reenu Mathews appears in a vital role.

Oru Vadakkan Selfie, the movie directed by G Prajith, with Nivin Pauly in the lead role, is released. The movie is penned by Vineeth Sreenivasan. Popular child artist Manjima Mohan makes her debut in lead roles with the movie. Aju Varghese essays in a pivotal role.

Kunchacko Boban And Rima Kallingal Escapes Boat Accident

Kunchacko Boban and Rima Kallingal narrowly escaped boat accident, in the sets of Chirakodinja Kinavukal. The duo was filming for a song sequence at Alappuzha backwaters. Rima posted the video of the incident in her official Facebook page.

National Film Awards Jury Not Impressed With Malayalam Cinema

Reports suggest that the 62nd National Film Awards jury is not impressed with the Malayalam Cinema of 2014. Jury member Dr N Gopalakrishnan has revealed that Malayalam cinemas of 2014 lacked innovative themes and quality in filmmaking, while compared to the last few years.
