Well,
the
censorship
issues
surrounding
Hindi
film
Udta
Punjab,
had
grabbed
the
attention
of
the
media.
With
a
High
court
order
coming
in
favour
of
the
makers
of
Udta
Punjab,
the
film
has
got
a
new
lease
of
life.
Today,
we
are
going
to
list
some
of
the
Malayalam
movies
which
incidentally
had
to
face
a
ban
or
were
denied
certification
due
to
various
reasons.

Painted
House
(2015)
The
film
was
denied
certification
by
CBFC
due
to
certain
nude
scenes
in
the
film.
The
makers
of
the
film
Satish
Babusenan
and
Santosh
Babusenan
were
not
ready
for
the
cuts
as
they
felt
that
the
scenes
did
play
an
important
part
in
the
film.
Recently,
after
some
legal
battle,
the
film
got
the
permission
to
be
screened
with
an
Adults
Only
certificate.
Pithaavinum
Puthranum
(2013)
The
film
directed
by
Deepesh
had
the
script
written
by
Balram
Mattannur.
It
was
denied
certification
stating
that
the
movie
might
hurt
the
religious
sentiments
of
people.
The
film
was
initially
titled
as
Pithavinum
Puthranum
Parishudhathmavinum
but
later
changed
to
Pithavinum
Puthranum.
Kathakali
(2016)
Kathakali,
is
the
most
recent
film
to
join
this
list.
The
film
directed
by
Oscar
Saijo
Kannanaikkal
has
been
denied
certification
due
to
a
nude
scene
which
features
towards
the
climax
of
the
film.
Censor
Board
asked
the
makers
to
remove
the
scene
to
grant
certification.
Papilio
Buddha
(2013)
Papilio
Buddha
directed
by
Jayan
K
Cherian
did
run
into
trouble
due
to
some
sequences
in
the
film
which
has
supposedly
degraded
icons
like
Mahatma
Gandhi,
EMS
Namboodirippaadu
and
Ayyankali.
The
board,
later
granted
an
A
certificate
for
the
film
after
muting
certain
dialogues.
Dam
999
(2011)
Well,
Dam
999
directed
by
Sohan
Roy
had
to
face
something
different.
The
film
was
given
clearance
by
the
Censor
Board
but
the
film
was
banned
in
Tamil
Nadu
due
to
Mullaperiyar
issue
that
was
running
high
between
the
states
of
Kerala
and
Tamil
Nadu
back
then.
Many
Malayalam
film-makers
came
out
in
support
of
the
makers
of
Udta
Punjab.
Film-makers
like
Rajeev
Ravi,
Aashiq
Abu,
Ranjith,
Renji
Panicker
were
vocal
about
their
opinion
on
censorship
issues
and
functioning
of
the
board.
In
fact,
this
issue
brought
together
the
entire
film-fraternity.
Recently,
there
was
another
controversy
regarding
censorship
issues,
when
Rajeev
Ravi's
recent
film
Kammatipaadam
was
granted
an
A
certificate.
The
film
was
supposedly
granted
an
A
certificate,
due
to
the
excessive
use
of
violence
in
the
film.
But,
the
viewers
and
industry
people
did
question
the
act
of
the
board,
as
the
film
didn't
have
too
much
violence
to
show.
Film
Employees
Federation
Of
Kerala
(FEFKA)
is
also
planning
to
approach
the
High
Court
against
the
regional
Censor
Board
in
Trivandrum.
Much
recently,
a
film
named
Kathakali,
directed
by
Oscar
Saijo
Kannanaikkal
was
denied
certification
by
the
Board
owing
to
nudity
issues.
