Actress Assault Case: Dileep's Bail Not Revoked, Kerala High Court Rejects Prosecution's Plea

Verdict Expected Today On Plea To Cancel Actor Dileeps Bail

Dileep's Bail Not Cancelled By The High Court: In a significant development in the high-profile actress assault case, the Kerala High Court has rejected the prosecution's demand to cancel the bail of the eighth accused, Dileep.

The judgment was passed by a single bench headed by Justice Sophie Thomas, emphasizing the need for swift trial completion and case disposal. The court disposed of the government's appeal to revoke the bail, citing potential legal complications and adverse effects on trial proceedings if Dileep's bail were to be cancelled.

The case has garnered widespread attention since its beginning. In their plea, the government alleged that Dileep, a prominent actor in the Malayalam film industry, attempted to tamper with evidence and influence witnesses.

The government's petition to the High Court was after its initial attempt to cancel Dileep's bail was rejected by the trial court. Dissatisfied with this decision, the government escalated the matter to the High Court, arguing that the trial court failed to adequately assess the evidence before denying the request to revoke bail.

Central to the government's argument was the assertion that Dileep allegedly exerted undue influence on approximately ten witnesses, including individuals such as Vipin Lal, Dasan, Sagar Vincent, Dr. Hyderali, Sarath Babu, and Jinson. The prosecution contended that Dileep's actions pose a threat to the integrity of the trial and hinder the pursuit of justice.

Moreover, the prosecution rebutted claims that the voice messages presented as evidence of witness tampering was false. Additionally, it challenged the legality of the trial court's decision to reject its initial plea. However, today the Kerala High Court also did not cancel Dileep's bail.
