Martin
Prakkat,
who
debuted
as
director
with
Mammootty's
Best
Actor,
has
teamed
with
his
son
Dulquar
Salman
and
a
few
new
faces
for
his
second
directorial
venture
ABCD
(American
Born
Confused
Desi),
which
has
hit
the
marquee
this
Friday.
The
movie
is
out-and-out
laugh
riot
with
fine
performances
and
rich
production
values.
With
this
film,
Dulquar
is
sure
to
set
a
new
style
statement.
ABCD
is
a
beautiful
romance
comedy
entertainment
with
all
masala
stuff
to
impress
the
mass.
Dulquar
and
Jacob's
brilliant
performances
are
the
main
highlights
of
the
film.
Sooraj-Neeraj's
interesting
story,
Martin's
engaging
narration,
Gopi
Sunder's
music,
Jomon
T
John's
camera
work,
beautiful
artwork
and
locales
and
trendy
costumes
and
makeups
are
its
other
attractions.
Some
illogical
and
over-the-top
comedy
scenes
are
its
drawbacks.
The
movie
narrates
the
journey
of
two
American
Malayalees
to
their
motherland
-
Kerala.
ABCD
brings
out
their
dilemmas
in
the
unfamiliar
circumstances
in
a
very
hilarious
way.
The
story
is
quite
interesting
and
Martin
Prakkat
has
a
very
good
grip
on
the
narration
of
the
whole
show.
With
a
few
comedy
scenes
and
funny-one-liners,
the
director
keeps
you
engaged
in
the
film
till
its
end.
Johns
(Dulquar
Salman)
is
born
and
brought
up
in
America,
who
leads
a
luxurious
life.
But
some
unprecedented
events
lead
him
to
leave
for
his
motherland
Kerala.
His
cousin
Kora
(Jacob
Gregory)
also
accompanies
him.
Soon
Johns
becomes
a
star
among
his
relatives
here
with
his
foreign
attire
and
gentle
behaviour.
How
he
behaves
in
some
unfamiliar
circumstances
have
been
brought
in
humorous
way
which
should
be
watched
on
screen.

ABCD
Is
About
Confused
Desis
In
the
US,
the
natives
have
the
tendency
to
ridicule
the
foreigners
by
calling
them
confused
desis.
The
movie,
which
is
inspired
from
a
newspaper
article,
deals
with
the
life
of
two
such
desi
guys.
ABCD
is
an
acronym
for
American
Born
Confused
Desi
and
the
title
is
apt
and
justifiable.
Dulquar's
Performance
As
NRI
Dulquar,
who
has
impressed
the
viewers
as
NRI
in
Ustad
Hotel,
is
sure
to
rock
the
viewers
again
as
American-returned
guy.
He
looks
completely
different
from
the
earlier
one.
His
mannerisms
and
characteristics
are
perfect
match
for
his
role.
He
is
the
showman
in
the
film.
He
is
sure
to
create
a
new
trend
with
his
trendy
costumes,
bikes,
cars
and
other
stuffs.
Jacob
Gregory
-
As
Dulquar's
Cousin
Jacob
Gregory
is
best
known
for
his
performance
as
expatriate
Malayali
Girigiri
living
in
the
US
in
Malayalam
sitcom
Akkara
Kazhchakal.
He
has
delivered
equally
good
performance,
which
is
good
asset
for
the
film.
He
displayed
the
traits
of
a
typical
expatriate.
Aparna's
Performance
Aparna
Gopinath,
who
has
a
strong
theatrical
background,
has
donned
a
geek
look
with
black-rimmed
glasses
and
cropped
hair.
She
has
also
done
a
brilliant
job
and
done
justice
to
her
role
in
the
movie.
Others
like
Vijayaraghavan,
Lalu
Alex,
Tovino
Thomas,
Thampi
Antony
and
Savannah
Schechter
have
also
done
justice
to
their
roles
Technical
Works
Jomon
T
John's
picturisation
is
the
main
highlight
in
the
technical
front.
Jomon
has
an
eye
for
detail
and
the
visuals,
which
are
vibrant
in
the
movie.
Gopi
Sunder's
music
is
another
big
strength
of
the
film.
There
are
some
of
the
best
humorous
dialogues
and
funny
one-liners.
Don
Max's
editing,
Ajay
Mangad's
art
direction,
Sameera
Saneesh's
costumes
and
Renjith
Ambady's
make
up
are
also
commendable.
Verdict
ABCD
is
a
wonderful
comedy
entertainer,
which
has
interesting
story
that
is
coupled
with
best
performances
and
superb
technical
work.
If
you
are
comedy
lover,
don't
miss
to
watch
this
film.
